Interview: Armagelion
What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
I got into music thanks to the sound of 80s heavy metal bands. That sound caught me for life and I wanted to make it my way of living.
I can’t imagine myself doing something different than music.
What do you like to do when you're not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
I love science fiction, horror and comic books. So when I’m not playing music, I’m coming up with ideas for my shows or new artwork.
How long has your band been around?
Two years. Even though the idea of ARMAGELION came up 10 years ago.
Where are you based out of and how did that influence your music?
I’m based out of Dallas. I try to go to as many local shows as possible, see what other artists do and see what I’m doing good or wrong.
How did you come up with the name of your band and what does it mean to you.
I wanted to create a memorable and powerful name, but without using any existing word. So I tried combining mythology and biblical words to create my own.
Tell me about your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you haven't already?
I’d love to play at Whiskey A Go Go and Viper Room. A lot of legends and bands I respect had played there.
If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?
Kiss, Motley Crue and ARMAGELION. That would be a dream come true.
What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into playing in a band?
Don’t give up, work hard, rehearse a lot and never let anybody tell you that you can’t get what you want.
If you could go back in time and give yourselves advice, what would it be?
I’d definitely tell myself to be patient, to not try to fly before running. Don’t be so aggressive with yourself. I keep telling that to myself. I’m biggest and toughest critic.
Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?
Every song means a lot, but Lie to Me, my latest release, has a special place. Cause it pushed my voice to another level and made me improve as a singer.
Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?
I love to sing Lie to Me. It’s a challenging song and very requested lately.
What is the creative process for the band, and what inspires you to write your music?
I take inspiration from anywhere. I like to write about emotions that everyone connects with. First I come up with the melody, cause it’s very important to me the sound of the song. The melody will give me an idea of the kind of lyrics the song needs.
What kinds of messages do you like to get across in your music?
I like to connect with my audience. I write about emotions that everyone can connect with. I want my music to be part of someone’s life soundtrack.
Do you ever have disagreements in your band, and how do you get past them?
Not at all. They understand my idea and the way I want things to be done. We have a very close relationship and we’re an awesome team.
What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that's coming up?
I'm planning some nearby shows and I hope to get into some festivals and share shows with other artists.
I have a new single to come, which is already done as the next preview to the upcoming album.
"Lie to Me" is powerful and dramatic, the new single is sensual and energetic. It's called "Playing with Fire"
Currently have two singles out. "Welcome to the Show" and "Lie to Me" just came out. You can find my music on every streaming service and my new lyric video on my youtube channel.
