Hi Bennett! Thank you for speaking with me today!
Hey! Thanks so much for having me.
What have you been working on lately?
Well, I just released Part 1 of my EP "Love Letters" and I've been doing a lot of promotion for it lately, mainly on social media. But aside from that, I've been working on Part 2 of "Love Letters", which I'm aiming to get out this fall. I'm also getting ready to announce the 2nd single off "Love Letters" and that will be coming shortly.
Who or what first got you into music?
My dad was very influential in my musical aspirations. He was a playwright before I was born and then when I was growing up, music was always being played. I got into instruments at a very young age too. I believe it was in 3rd grade I got my 1st guitar. From there, he introduced me to singers of all kinds and I fell in love with music.
What about your music would you say is rebellious or unconventional?
I'd probably say the most unconventional thing would be is that I don't stick to a specific genre, I make the music that makes me happy. I do that for many reasons. One is to stay eclectic with the collection of music I'm giving to my listener. I also am such a fan of almost every type of music that my own playlists consist of anything from System of a Down to Celine Dion, so I want to give people everything from Pop to R&B to Hip-Hop and Rap. I keep the same energy with my music while changing the vibe from song to song.
Has your musical journey had a deliberate direction, or did it gradually evolve in the direction you found?
Overall I've always had the same goal, but I think over time I have learned a lot from having so many bumps in the road. 5 years ago I had to start everything over from scratch and basically build myself back up as a new artist. Everything happens for a reason and there is a plan for everyone so everything gradually evolved in the right direction. Now I'm doing more than I ever have and the journey growing into a really amazing music career.
What are your top three albums of all time?
That's a tough one because I always have a hard time choosing favorites, but if I had to choose three I'd have to say Daydream by Mariah Carey, Purpose by Justin Bieber, and Ready to Die by Biggie. They are by far my favorite.
Top three artists to listen to on any given day?
So I'm a very day-to-day guy when it comes to my music. I listen to music based on my mood and that definitely changes on a daily basis. But if I had to choose 3 I'd say Ariana Grande, Chris Brown, and Justin Bieber. They are amazing artists and their music always hits the spot.
Any upcoming projects you want to talk about?
I've got Part 2 of "Love Letters" coming out in a couple of months, but we are just breaking ground now with that. I'm hoping to shoot a music video for my next single too. I will be announcing the new single from my album next week so I'm really excited for that.
