Interview: Bloodhunter
What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
Probably I would be focused in painting or, most probably, in technology.
What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
I used to do boxing and playing videogames, but right now I do not have time for any of those.
How long has your band been around?
BLOODHUNTER started in 2008, but we have been active since 2013 when we released our first demo.
Where are you based out of and how did that influence your music?
We are based in Spain. I do not think it influenced our music in any way.
How did you come up with the name of your band and what does it mean to you?
I was looking for something related to BLOOD, because I wanted it to be aggressive. Second part of the name came from Diva Satanica.
Tell me about your most memorable shows.
I have good memories of Leyendas del Rock 2018 because it was a great show, full of people and everybody was enjoining it a lot.
What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?
Well, there are plenty of places where we have not played yet. I love to play at festivals. It is a bit stressful before the show, but you can relax after it and meet a lot of people.
If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?
Probably Death, Children of Bodom and Behemoth.
What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into playing in a band and some advice that you would give to your younger self?
I would have advice myself to do anything else hahaha. I would suggest anybody to learn and understand the instrument, not just repeat and play other’s songs.
If you could go back in time and give yourselves advice, what would it be?
Probably “don’t try to be evil and embrace the melody”.
Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?
I love “Let the Storm Come” because it has a positive message and the music is the perfect definition of BLOODHUNTER.
Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?
People usually ask us to play “The End of Faith” but somehow, we do not play it so often. Most requested are “All These Souls Shall Serve… Forever!”, “Bring me Horror” and it will probably be “A Twist of Fate to Come”.
What is the creative process for the band, and what inspires you to write your music?
I do not believe in inspiration. You have to sit down every day and work. Make some experiments, try new things… and make songs.
What kinds of messages do you like to get across in your music?
Usually, positive messages. When somebody discovers BLOODHUNTER they are usually surprised and happy to find a band like us, so we would recommend you to check it out.
Do you ever have disagreements in your band, and how do you get past them?
We all discuss about that and if there is not a clear solution, I usually make the final decision (which is not necessary most of the times). There is a clear line in BLOODHUNTER and everybody should follow the same path.
What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?
We will release “Knowledge was the Price” in 2 days and will make the first live shows in 3 years in June. We are working on some tours and festivals for the rest of the year and 2023. The plan is to play as much as possible with this album and prepare next one.
