What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?

we have all grown up around music through our lives. weve all started at young ages  and got to grow with our music.i mean we all of us  have regular jobs our music is our passion it how we escape the everyday hustle of life and when we play its our heart and soul into everything we do

What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?

my self speak tony (bass) im an artist i own a tattoo studio so im always creating..wyane (guitar) is an electrician by trade ,bryan (drums) is in the automotive industry,Frank (vocals) is an inventory coordinator  workin in custom wood and metal shop that does for museums and cooperate buildings

How long has your band been around?

the band was originally formed in 2015 as the band gre some things changed you know growing pains.. this line up of broken past has been together since 2018 and man weve have really started shaping our own sound since

Where are you based out of and how did that influence your music?

were based out of atlantic highlands nj. and we have all grown up around here. our music tells our stories our journeys through life.. each some is based from most life events

How did you come up with the name of your band and what does it mean to you?

Tony came up with the name Broken Past. The name has to do with life our life and others everyone in life has had some kind of trouble, heartache or just challanges in life we all have some kind of broken past

Tell me about your most memorable shows.

our most memorable show man thats a tough one we have played so many over the years weve done so many great charity events and played so many great venues around nj..va,pa for me anyway one of the most memorable moments was our video shoot of some gave all to be honest the day of filming the soldiers that came out to support what we were doing was probly one of my favorite expierences by far but show there just been to many to just pick one..

What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?

we’ve played  the stone pony in asbury nj alot thats probly my favorite it just home for me and well to say they we play there not just once but alot over the years isx just great to say

If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?

man thats a tough one for sure on the national level Black Label Society would be the altime best.. its really hard though to just pick a couple cause theres so many great bands out there to share the stage with

What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into playing in a band and some advice that you would give to your younger self?

the best advice i could give is just stick with it you know it takes a lot of practice and determination to get where you want to get especially in these times. find a group of guys that things just feel right and run with ..and practice practice practice youll hit alot of bumps in the road just keep moving forward and youll get what you want out it..as far as giving myself and younger advice.. just keep learning practice belive in yourself but dont let your ego get in the way

If you could go back in time and give yourselves advice, what would it be?

you know going back and trying to change yourself i wouldnt do it personally.. you know our past has made us who we are today and if it wasnt for that we wouldnt be here right now

Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?

we have a few song out now and its really hard to just pick one i would have to say thew song broken past as its the story of my life (tony) .. but all of our song are about our lives wait till you here the new stuff though

Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?

the best felling is when someone wants to hear your song we like playing all of ours like recently we played a show and in the middle of the set we hear some screaming to play one of our song called  these scars its really a great feeling

What is the creative process for the band, and what inspires you to write your music?

our creative process you know it all starts with a thought or a riff. we all go back and forth and we create its such a fun process for us all.. as the band we all work well together when we are in studioi writing its really everything

What kinds of messages do you like to get across in your music?

music is a great escape i say it all the time. kick on one of our tunes and sit back and really listen and feel it.. it all tells a story you just have to take a moment and listen

Do you ever have disagreements in your band, and how do you get past them?

of course we have disagreements were human were not robots.. but we all learn from each other and that what makes Broken past

What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?

theres no telling what the future holds for us.. maybe a couple more people like out tunes and follow our journey.. right now we are in the studio recording our full length cd which is being recorded  and produced by John  "JD" Deservio of Black Label Society we don't have a release date yet but i will tell you this it will be worth the wait especially with JD adding his touch. it will be a little later this year i can tell you that.. you never know whats gonna happen with us so follow our journey
