What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
Hello there! Firstly I would like to thank you for inviting me for this interview.
Actually, since I remember my self I was playing music, to be honest.
At the age of 6, I started with some piano lessons after that I moved to the violin at the age of 10, and then from my 12years old, I fell in love with the bass guitar.
Music and science for me are two things that I love since I was a kid. I'm a mathematician and musician.
What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
I like to hear music a lot some gaming on my pc and also to hang out with friends for a couple of beers, also reading books, watching movies, stuff like that. I believe gaming has a huge impact to me as well listening to "new" music for getting that inspiration to create.
How long has your band been around?
Basically, the band started at 2017 where me (Spiros Georgiou) and Jimmy Louvros founded the band. The current lineup got shaped around 2019.
Where are you based out of and how did that influence your music?
Mainly we are based at Corfu, Greece. Corfu is an island really unique place since you can find forests, seas, mountains even for its size!
Also, the Venecian architecture gives you especially at winter some really deep "gothic" vibes. So i believe its a place that inspires you every period of a year.
How did you come up with the name of your band and what does it mean to you?
Fragment Soul meaning is "all of the pieces of a splintered soul, viewed together as one".
Tell me about your most memorable shows.
Since we did our debut during this pandemic caused by Covid-19 we hadn't the chance to do any live shows yet but we are really waiting to share our music with the people out there at the stage!
What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?
Personally, the place I would like to play is Royal Albert Hall.
If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?
Katatonia, Opeth, Draconian, and a lot more!
What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into playing in a band and some advice that you would give to your younger self?
The musicians that wants to start or be in a band needs to understand the problems and the sacrifices that need to be done to avoid losing time-fighting on toxic conversations mainly. Every member needs to have his/her specific role, with that done, everything can only go better.
Advice to my younger self would be only one. Be happy and live with peace of mind each day of your life.
Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?
My personal favorite is the song called "A choice between two Evils" that includes all the music elements I love and the emotions that brings to me haven't faded since the very first day this song "borned".
What is the creative process for the band, and what inspires you to write your music?
We start writing a concept after that we get a good amount of time so we can "feel" the story deep inside us. Afterward, we checking our musical ideas together with some lyrics. The inspiration for composing music comes from our personal lives, I believe every artist gets their inspiration that way.
What kinds of messages do you like to get across in your music?
Respect every human, help at any time of your life, forgive, and fight your own demons, there is a glimpse of a light somewhere out there.
Do you ever have disagreements in your band, and how do you get past them?
All the members in the band have the experience and the will to have a solution at any disagreement. The key for us is that everyone have his own role and it's crystal clear where his part starts and ends.
What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?
Our main worry is to see when live shows will be viable again. So that period we are preparing our selves for the upcoming rehearsals.
