Interview: Gard Read
What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
My grandfather used bring out the guitar and taught us songs to sing. And I guess that made me wanna learn to play myself.
If I did had not gotten into music I’d probably do something with movies, either behind or in front of the camera. Or maybe a firefighter.
Who knows?
What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
Movies are my biggest source of inspiration. Love a good story.
And Gotta remember to enjoy life a little once in a while or being physically active to clear my mind. How long have you been making music?
Forever. I got serious about it 8 years ago .
But I did not find my sound until I started producing for myself a little while back Where are you based and how did that influence your music?
Moved to many times to count. At the moment I’m in Bergen, Norway, but I’ve spent half my life in the UK.
Traveling back and forth always experiencing something new and different.
Tell me about your most memorable shows.
One time at the Bedford in London.
It’s a small venue, super intimate. But they always bring out hidden gems. And you get to connect with all these talented people What is your favourite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?
The Bedford. So many places in the Uk, maybe a festival. That would be amazing.
If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the lineup?
Tough question.
Labrinth. Ed Sheeran, Jack Garratt, Jacob banks, the weeknd, imagine dragons, highaskite, cold play, Adele. Sigrid, Lewis capaldi, Tom grennan harry stylez, dermot Kennedy, highaskite
Go big or go home right?
What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into playing in a band and some advice that you would give to your younger self?
Put it the work so that you can enjoy it and learn from each
If you could go back in time and give yourselves advice, what would it be?
Don’t worry to much and stop second-guessing yourself.
Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?
You haven’t heard it yet, but it’s called “Loser”.
What is your creative process for writing your music and what inspires you to write your music?
Depends.. normally I play on the guitar or piano.. or I’ll create a sound in the studio and I’ll catch a vibe where I start writing..
What kinds of messages do you like to get across in your music?
That it’s good enough to be yourself and I wanna talk to the little guy or, the underdog.. And talk about moral and ethics
What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?
I am currently focused on finishing my debut Ep.
It’s gonna be insane
