Interview: Luciano Santos
What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
Ever since I was little, I would always find myself singing. The passion was always there, so I would always be part of choirs at church and school. If I didn’t get into music, I probably would be doing acting.
What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
I like to be outdoors when I’m not playing music. Nature always resets my brain and inspires me. I love to take walks around the local park in my town. I just love the peace I get and also the solitude in nature helps me stay connected to myself and my emotions, which helps me write more songs.
How long have you been around?
I’m 31 years old if that’s what you’re asking haha.
Where are you based out of and how did that influence your music?
I’m based out of New York and I love it because here we don’t stick to just one genre. There’s a variety of sounds and it’s multicultural, which I love.
How did you come up with your stage name of Luciano SANTOS and what does it mean to you?
That’s actually my real name, My full name is Luciano Gomes Dos Santos, too long for an artist’s name so I had to shorten it up.
Tell me about your most memorable shows.
I really liked the Ed Sheehan concert I went to at MetLife stadium. I was sitting in the nosebleeds but I still love to see him perform just him and a guitar.
What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?
I haven’t played any shows yet but my dream venue is Madison Square Garden.
If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?
Niall Horan, Shawn Mendes, Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello, and Olivia Rodrigo.
What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into playing in a band and some advice that you would give to your younger self?
I would say don’t worry about perfection, just do your best. To my younger self, I would say follow your dreams and don’t let anything or anyone get in your way.
If you could go back in time and give yourselves advice, what would it be?
Just do it and enjoy life to the fullest!
Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?
Glimpses. Because that song was very therapeutic to write it. I was going through a depression and it helped me to overcome it.
Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?
I love “On The Loose” by Niall Horan. The most requested will be Glimpses because that’s my favorite song of mine and I’m believing people will love that song,
What is your creative process, and what inspires you to write your music?
I do journaling. That helps me stay in touch with my emotions. And then I just keep playing with melodies and then comes the lyrics. Life events inspire me to write lyrics. Sometimes it’s just a concept that I have in mind.
What kinds of messages do you like to get across in your music?
I always want my songs to be uplifting and relatable. Like there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.
What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?
I just want to keep releasing music and tour at some point. Be on the lookout for two singles this summer!
