Interview: MIND ERASURE
What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
Lampros. When I was a teenager was listening to metallica albums, A LOT. I was trying to play few of them. I cannot thing myself without music!
Vasilis: Usually that’s something you don’t really choose it, it grabs your attention when you are little, and that’s that. Then you get the instrument that you saw and wanted to play, and go from there. You never know where it’s gonna lead.Like when I got my first drumkit,I never thought I would start to produce records at some point…
What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
Lampros. Mostly am an outdoor guy, motorcycle, bicycle, trekking, swimming. I also train in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu few days per week and play D&D at the weekends. I do not think that any of these influence my creativity directly.
Vasilis: Travelling to new places and photography, walk new places I’ve never been.
How long has your band been around?
Lampros. Since 2007, but we were just rehearsing and messing around. Since 2013 we put some goals and we try to fulfill them one by one.
Where are you based out of and how did that influence your music?
Lampros. We are based in Corfu Greece, about 500 klm from Athens. Being far away from the capital is a drawback but it does not put us down.
How did you come up with the name of your band and what does it mean to you?
Lampros, A discuson i had with some friends about how politicians and the media manipulate the crowds and how they can redirect their focus and thoughts brought up the name MIND ERASURE.
Tell me about your most memorable shows.
Lampros, For me is our fisrt show, opening the night for Rotting Christ.
Vasilis: Same show for me, hopefully we will do a lot more when all this ends.
What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?
Lampros. We have not play in many venues, so there are a lot that i would like to play in!
Vasilis: It doesn’t really matter what venue you are playing as long as it’s a good show, with a good vibe.
If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?
Lampros. Behemoth, Hate, Mgla, Uada, Mind Erasure
Vasilis: Let’s say WACKEN, usually everyone touring at the time is in that fest.
What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into playing in a band and some advice that you would give to your younger self?
Lampros. Talk to each other, put goals, study your instrument and learn your songs to perfection.
Vasilis: You need to leave your ego home…Do your best no matter if it’s a pro band or you’re playing just for fan.The right time to do anything, is now. When you get shit done, you’ll involve inventually.Learn how to record your band, it’s going to help you even if you go to a big studio.
If you could go back in time and give yourselves advice, what would it be?
Lampros. It would be the same as above.
Vasilis: Be focused on what I love doing more.
Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?
Lampros. For me its CONNIVE, I think it’s the one that I put the more effort to write the lyrics.
Vasilis: Every song has it’s own place in the musician’s head for different reasons.
Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?
Vasilis: We don’t know yet, as there are not many shows happening around here yet….What I like the most is that we don’t have only songs with blast beats or just a lot of double bass , that’s something I really like, there are a lot of changes and I believe we managed to make it sound natural.
What is the creative process for the band, and what inspires you to write your music?
Lampros. Inspirietion comes from many different things. Usually everyone bring some ideas and we all together work on them.
What kinds of messages do you like to get across in your music?
Lampros. I would like my music to “touch” each listener differently, and by his own experiences and thoughts.
Do you ever have disagreements in your band, and how do you get past them?
Lampros. We are people, of caurse we have disagreements, a mtrying not to talk when am angry or when I feel overtaken by emotions, some times this can be irritating to other people. I like to think clear and without emotions, sometimes that takes time.
Vasilis:Every band has, usually wins the opinion that has the most votes.
What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?
Lampros. We will promote the album as much possible, and we already started to work on new songs.
