Hi Serene! Thank you for speaking with me today!
You have been working on some new music! Is there anything you can share with us about it?
Of course! My newest song is called Lovely! This is my first time collaborating with a producer, as I normally make the beats for my songs myself, and I'm really excited about it!
What is your favorite part of your creative process?
My favorite part of the process is creating harmonies. I love the effect that I get when stacking vocals. I also get to have a lot of fun with it by being creative with my voice!
When did you realize you wanted to pursue a career as an artist?
I've pretty much always known. When I was a kid, I was always singing and trying to entertain anyone who would look my way.
What keeps you inspired?
My fans, friends, and family! Any time I hear someone tell me how my music has affected their life in a positive way, it makes me want to create more.
Who do you like to share your music with first, before it is released?
It depends on the song, but for the most part, my brother and a couple close friends usually hear it before anyone else. I like to get their input on the direction of the song to see if I'm heading in the right direction. When it's a little more finished, my parents are the next to hear!
How do you keep your music authentic to you?
I like to make sure that I'm not binge listening to one artist before I start writing so that I don't end up having their style bleed too much into mine. I also picture myself singing the song to a large audience because if I can't picture it then it’s back to the drawing board!
What does 'making it' mean to you?
To me, "making it" is simply being able to live off doing what I love and that's music. But the dream? That's connecting with fans, selling out shows, and having a great time performing!
