Interview: The Great Leslie
What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
A mixture of my family and love for music for as long as I can remember. If I wasn’t doing music I think I would’ve been a novelist, actor or comedian…definitely something artistic anyway.
What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
I like to listen to music, read books, watch TV and Films, go out with my friends, exercise etc. All the regular stuff that everyone else does. I don’t think anything in particular inspires what I write about; it’s just what affects my life and what I’m thinking about at the time that manages to make it’s way onto the page.
How long has your band been around?
The Great Leslie has been together for 2 years in March.
Where are you based out of and how did that influence your music?
We’re based out of London. London as a whole again may inspire what we do musically, but not directly. We go and see a lot of different bands and artists, and with such a variety of music it will feed into what we write I suppose, but by no means does London itself really feature in the context of the songs like being from a small town would for Bruce Springsteen or Sam Fender.
