Interview: The Sand
What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
Music has been very important to me since I was little, my father always give me good music for me, pop rock... I also started listening to rock music because of my older brother and his friends, in my town hardly anyone listens to bands like nirvana or pearl jam, we were the weirdos in town hehe.
I think I couldn't work on something else, I would be a sad person.
What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
I really like walking in quiet areas, the place I like the most is the beach area in winter when there are few people.
I can't know when inspiration strikes, it's usually in moments after moments of sadness, the good thing is that I have the beach 20 minutes from home and that makes me able to relax a lot there.
Where are you based out of and how did that influence your music?
I am from a small town in the southeast of Spain, very close to the coast, now I live in a bigger city, also very close to the Mediterranean coast. I interact a lot with tourists from all over Europe who come here on vacation. I love to see how different cultures are, what I know is that in the end we are all very similar
If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?
buff... it's hard to choose, right now it would be with foo fighters and coldplay or keane. I would also like placebo or groups like sum 41, blink 182
If you could go back in time and give yourselves advice, what would it be?
Although it sounds harsh, I think that if I had been born in the US or the UK I would have more possibilities with music, in Spain it is difficult, the predominant music is another...
Another piece of advice would be to always do what you want.
Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?
The most important song will come out in September, only 3 or 4 people have heard it. But well, I suppose that at every moment you feel some songs more than others
What kinds of messages do you like to get across in your music?
I like to convey that there are hard times in life, that there are very bad days, but that you always have to have a positive attitude. I would like our song not to happen for a while, for it to happen for special people, who feel music as something important.
What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?
Our goals are to play a lot live, to leave Spain and play abroad, to be an international group, I would like the sand to help people through music.
After the summer we will release a new album, little secrets.
