Interview with Behind Our Reflections

What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?

I couldn't say exactly what made me make music today.

It's like, it's always been the case, since the age of 15 I've been doing it, and I feel like it's still a part of me. Fredo

What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?

Playing video games or doing mechanics. Seeing that all go wrong. Getting mad. Writing and playing angry music. Remy

How long has your band been around?

The band has existed since 2014, it's been a while already! haha. Fredo

Where are you based out of and how did that influence your music?

We are based on Reunion Island, a French island in the Indian Ocean

It's quite complicated because we are far from everything!

We want to go on tour, do concerts elsewhere, but it can be very expensive to travel from our island. Fredo

How did you come up with the name of your band and what does it mean to you?

I found the name of the group, in 2013 when I was working with a friend who is a singer, I wanted to create my own project and I needed something stylish!

And since I love everything related to the mirror, I found this cool name. Fredo

Tell me about your most memorable shows.

Our most memorable show was at the kabardock on Reunion Island during the evening "La Nuit de Kal" we had the pleasure of shooting the clip for our single at that time!

the public was incredible as well as the technical team. Fredo

What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?

Today our favorite room is the Kabardock on Reunion Island.

We haven't had the chance to experience many other big venues, but we would love to play outside of our island. Play in India, or in Australia. Fredo

If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?

There would be us, and Betraying The Martyrs. Fredo

What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into playing in a band and some advice that you would give to your younger self?

I would say to play a few covers accessible to the group which generally appeal to like rage against the machine and also to compose songs in rehearsal

Then understand that a rehearsal room is a place where you need rigor in your ability to play, you can come to have fun but when a member of the group talks about an idea or an arrangement it's pleasant to be listened to and therefore to stop any instrument, it is important to be attentive

And I find that creating a rehearsal routine allows you to save time and to be calm (check your equipment before going to rehearsal, install your equipment, start the scales, start by making a set list of the songs to play, play the songs and review the places where certain passages need to be improved) . Fab

If you could go back in time and give yourselves advice, what would it be?

Start playing music sooner and try hard the rudiments. Remy

Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?

The song that means the most to me is Eternal Dissilusion, is about a love story that ended bad...and everyone can recognize itself in this song, but this is not the real point of it. This song is also a reminder that even with the worst love story everyone can get bigger from that and move forward. Brice

Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?

It's "Conception", from our first album! Seeing people singing, smiling, seeing our friends laughing from the backstage every time we play this song, it's just awesome!. Fredo

What is the creative process for the band, and what inspires you to write your music?

In the group in general it is me who composes, I bring the main atmosphere and the basic idea and then each one who brings his paw!

Remy, brings a lot in terms of rhythm, his influences djent, jazz, bring a lot especially for this new album. Fredo

What kinds of messages do you like to get across in your music?

There is no particular messages, i just wrote stories based on the atmosphere and the feeling that i have with the song. Brice

Do you ever have disagreements in your band, and how do you get past them?

Before, with the old formation, we had constant problems, we were much younger and we clearly did not have the maturity that we have now.

Today, we have no problem because we communicate a lot, we spend a lot of time talking to each other before rehearsing and if we have to discuss a sensitive subject we will take the time to do so. It's really our strength the complicity that we have woven in this band. Fredo

What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?

Well for the moment we announce the release of our new album "INFINITY" which will be released in November

It was a really very difficult time for us because the health situation did not allow us to play. So we put everything into this album, all our heart, all our passion.

We hope that this album will please our fans and newcomers who will take the pleasure of listening to us. Fredo
