Interview with CELINE GEORGI
What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music, what would you be doing today?
I've always been the type of girl to listen to TV shows like Hannah Montana and High School Musical. I've always been a Disney girl, so I would that say that is how I got myself into music. My best friends are one of the reasons as to why I'm pursuing music, they've been amazing supporters throughout my musical journey and I'm thankful to have them by my side, I'd like to have them near me during my live performances, you never know what could happen in the future !
What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
I go to church on the weekends and I practice my musical skills with my band. Here's a little known fact about me, churches are also one the places that grew my passion for music: I've always enjoyed listening to choir performances.
How long have you been making music?
I've been making music for more than three years now!
Where are you based and how did that influence your music?
I'm based in Berlin, Germany and I would say that this influenced my music in many ways: my parents used to listen to those big late 80s artists in our household. Anything from Queen to Britney Spears, I've heard them all.
What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?
I don't really have a favourite venue, but I love to feel the energy whenever I'm on stage. I really like having the spotlight on me to entertain the crowd.
If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?
Justin Bieber. I'm a big fan of his music.
What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into making music and some advice that you would give to your younger self?
I know this sounds cheesy, but never give up. Life is filled of opportunities!
Let's talk about your songs, which one means the most to you and why?
I really love Fan Of Mine. I've wanted a song that represents me, a fierce woman in the music industry. I feel like this industry is really male dominated. Fan Of Mine is also about the struggles of today's relationships, we always expect the women to do so much more when it comes to dating, but I feel like men also have their role to play. Dating should be equal on both gender spectrum.
Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?
When I performed locally in a in pub in Berlin, I was told to play As If again. It was an awesome experience, I was not expecting the crowd to ask for encores. Not only that, but I feel like this song will be everyone's favourite: the production is so fresh and even I can't get tired of it!
What is your creative process, and what inspires you to write your music?
Well, mostly my life. When I'm writing lyrics, I like to write about all the events I encounter. I have a lot of melodies in my mind when I produce my songs. I like to combine the lyrics, then figure out the chords with my piano and my guitar: it's a beautiful process.
Do you have messages that you like to get across in your music? if so please tell me about them.
I'd say it's self worth and reminding young people, young girls and boys, even though things might have not been the best, they've had problems growing up. I want to give them hope and self-worth through my songs, I love to give a good message. Stand for what God has given me, God has been given me love and hope and also a good musical talent.
Do you have any new singles, videos, or albums out that you would like to tell me and your fans about?
Well, we just released Serendipity I, my side A of my EP. There will be the second side B of the EP coming soon, Serendipity II. It will be a more emotional EP about my life, anything from my past trauma to having fun: my highs and lows in life.
What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?
I am planning to get into festivals, I'd like to have a larger outreach to festivals. I want to create my portfolio. I'm trying hard to work on my live performances, I want to develop my skills in singing as well, I think I would be able to do more in a few years, vocal-wise but also production-wise.
How can your fans keep up to date with you, any socials you want people to check out?
Yes, my fans can follow me on TikTok, Instagram and on YouTube. I am on most social media, but I'm not as active I used to be on Twitter. I post covers on a regular basis on every Friday on my Instagram and YouTube Shorts. My fans can request any songs for me to cover through my comments.
