Interview with Fiona Montt
What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
What got me into music is singing. And if I weren’t singing, I would be studying.
What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
I like to go out with friends, have a chat with them, be with my dog, do some sports. They’re experiences, everything’s valid to do the lyric of a song.
How long have you been making music?
I’ve been singing since I was very little and making songs since I’ve met Roy Hamilton III.
Where are you based out of and how did that influence your music?
I was raised and born in Argentina, Buenos Aires. My music was influenced by experiences of life, not only from where I’m based. From listening to other singers from other parts of the world, since technology has attracted a lot of proximity, everything is known, everything is seen.
Tell me about your most memorable shows, if you haven’t played live what is your vision for a live show?
My most memorable show was when I participated in an event where they were competing more than a 1000 school bands from the city and only 10 were supposed to enter the competition. We got in, and were finalists, we even got second place. Was a very pleasant memory.
What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?
I have many places, but I haven’t done it yet.
If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?
Sorry, I don't understand the question, but, if I was opening for someone, I would like to be opening for Dua lipa.
What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into making music and some advice that you would give to your younger self?
In believing in oneself, never stop dreaming, and above all, enjoy the opportunities. Because you can make a career out of opportunities.
Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?
C’est la vie is the song that means the most to me, because it’s the first one that I’ve made during pandemic.
Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?
I like to listen from Miley Cyrus, Angèle, Katy Perry, Bon entendeur, to Céline Dion in french, to the weekend, to Michael bubble, Norah jones and to finish with dua lipa. The most requested songs are Dua lipa’s covers that I used to do.
What is your creative process, and what inspires you to write your music?
Feelings inspire me to write music, what I have to tell, to say, to be heard through my songs.
Do you have messages that you like to get across in your music, if so please tell me about them?
I don't know if I have a message, but I would like people to listen to me, maybe someone else is going through the same thing as me or has the same feelings that I have.
What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?
My plans for the future are to finish college, I have 3 months left to graduate, god willing. And what I would like to put in the spotlight, would be to dedicate myself full time to music, to be able to live from music because I enjoy it very much, I am passionate about it.
