Interview with Keelie Walker
What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
I’ve been doing music ever since I was 13 but prior to that I was always in dance and acting. So I’ve always had a passion for being an entertainer. If I wasn’t doing music right now I definitely would be working on doing something in the area of the arts because I still love acting and dancing, even modeling.
What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
When I’m not recording, my time consists of working out, writing music, and staying on top of vocal lessons. It all helps play a part into what I do because if a tour or something pops up I’ll be ready.
How long have you been making music?
I was 13 when I started singing and getting into vocal lessons. It’s been 6-7 years.
Where are you based and how did that influence your music?
I was born in Hot Springs Arkansas but we moved the Nashville Tennessee to peruse music. It influences my music because it’s a very music-inclined place. There’s always live music playing somewhere in Nashville.
Tell me about your most memorable shows, if you haven’t played live what is your vision for a live show?
I’ve made so many different memories for all the tours and things I’ve done but if I had to choose the most memorable I would say, my very first performance when I was 14 and performed at Wembley. It was an incredible experience and I remember almost everything to this day. Another one of my top memorable moments would be when I did my own UK school tour. I went around performing at schools and got to meet tons of people, it was super fun.
What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?
Favorite place I played at would be either Wembley arena or the Palladium in London. They're both so pretty and huge. I had an amazing time performing there.
What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into making music and some advice that you would give to your younger self?
Advice I would give to someone getting into making music would always stay true to yourself and never give up no matter how hard it gets. The advice I would say to my younger self would be patience is key and no matter what just do what makes you happy.
Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?
I’ve written on all of them so they all mean something to me in their own way, some a little more than others but if I had to choose a song I felt I related to the most it would be one that I just wrote that isn’t released yet. I just relate to it so much.
Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?
There’s some unreleased songs I love to play and listen too and the ones I’ve performed on tour that are not yet released as well I always listen to them too. The one that usually gets requested would be Shy Boy.
What is your creative process, and what inspires you to write your music?
I usually start off with making a melody first and then lyrics come later for me. I usually just write about what I’m feeling in the moment or something I’ve been going through.
Do you have messages that you like to get across in your music, if so please tell me about them?
I try to just be as real as possible with my music and just speak from emotion on what I feel in that moment. I try to just make relatable music of all kinds of relatable things that people would relate too.
What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?
My plans are just to keep releasing music, making music videos, and growing supporters. There’s some project in the works right now that I’m really excited about that I’m praying works out.
How can your fans best keep up to date with you, any socials you want people to check out?
Best way to stay in tune with everything would be Tiktok, Instagram, and Facebook. Tiktok is Keeliewalkermusic and the rest is just Keeliewalker
