Interview with MAYCON DEVON
**What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music, what would you be doing today?**
Hey there, thanks for having me! Growing up, my house was always buzzing with noise, and music was like a constant companion. My uncle played the guitar a lot, and I'd join in, singing my heart out. Mom used to say I could belt out words with surprising clarity since I was a little one. Living in Brazil, where music is everywhere, especially in church, added to the whole musical experience. My debut single, "All Your Fault," is out now, and while I'm still juggling high school, I dream of making music my full-time gig someday.
**What do you like to do when you are not playing music, and how does that influence your creativity?**
Well, besides music, there are a few things I'm into. I've got a thing for capturing moments with my camera, and I'm not too shabby at it. Reading isn't my go-to, but writing now, that's my jam. It's like creating my own little universe on paper, you know? Writing often spills into my music creativity. If I've had a rough day, pouring those emotions into lyrics turns it into something beautiful.
**How long have you been making music?**
So, my official musical journey kicked off in 2022 when I released my first song under a different name. But it wasn't until November 2023, with "All Your Fault," that I fully embraced the Maycon Devon vibe. Realizing my real name, Maycon Douglas, was everywhere, I needed something unique. Now, Maycon Devon feels like the real deal.
**Where are you based, and how did that influence your music?**
I'm kicking it in Fort Myers, Florida. Surprisingly, my location hasn't seeped into my music much. Even though I moved from New Jersey, I don't let my creativity be boxed in by a place. My lyrics come from a fantasy world rather than a specific geographic spot.
**Tell me about your most memorable shows, or if you haven't played live, what is your vision for a live show?**
Oh, live shows! I haven't had tons of those, but back in 2014 in Brazil, I did a cover at a singing competition. Singing in front of thousands felt unreal. Looking ahead, my dream is to share the stage at big events like Lollapalooza or Rock in Rio. And hey, I'd love to jam with Billie Eilish someday. How cool would that be?
**What is your favorite venue to play at, and are there places you want to play that you haven't already? If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?**
Haven't found a favorite venue yet, but dreaming of big stages like Lollapalooza. And oh, if I could share a stage with anyone, it'd be Billie Eilish, no doubt. That girl's vibe is something else.
**What advice would you give to someone getting into making music, and what advice would you give to your younger self?**
To the newcomers, you don't need fancy gear to make killer music. Set up a home studio with the basics; it doesn't have to be brand new. And to my younger self–stop worrying about what others think. You'll never please everyone, so focus on being true to yourself.
**Of your songs, which one means the most to you and why? Which songs are your favorite to play, and which get requested the most?**
"All Your Fault" hits home for me, exploring toxic relationships. As for favorites, each song is like a snapshot of a moment. And live requests? Well, I haven't played enough to have those yet, but I'm eager for it.
**What is your creative process, and what inspires you to write your music?**
Creativity for me is random, you can't force it. Lyrics might hit me while writing or even in the shower. I've got a ton of voice memos on my phone capturing those spontaneous moments. It's like, you never know when inspiration will strike.
**Do you have messages you like to convey in your music? If so, please tell me about them.**
"All Your Fault" isn't based on a real story, but it mirrors situations where toxic relationships take a toll. It's about the struggle to let go, even when it's for the best, because of those lingering good memories.
**Do you have any new singles, videos, or albums out that you'd like to share with your fans?**
Yup, "All Your Fault" is out now, diving into the complexities of toxic relationships. Oh, and there's a new one in the works, tackling love and infidelity. Can't spill all the beans yet, but stay tuned for the release date!
**What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything upcoming you'd like to spotlight?**
In 2024, I'm aiming to drop at least 10 singles. One of them is in the oven, exploring love and the whole cheating thing. Still fine-tuning it, but I'll let you and the fans know when it's ready to roll.
**How can your fans best keep up to date with you? Any socials you want people to check out?**
