Interview with OYD
What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
From a young age I remember myself listening to all kinds of music and searching for new music experiences!
I will probably be working around the music industry!
What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
Mostly what common people do is watch movies, hang out with friends reading a book and other usual things on a normal day
It helps you to get to the real world and see what happens as things change and evolve so you go with the flaw and charge batteries!
How long has your band been around?Close to a decade!
Where are you based out of and how did that influence your music?
We are based in south Greece in a Town called kalamata it's nice because everything works slower than an average city!
It helps you to take your time and do things your own way!
How did you come up with the name of your band and what does it mean to you?
It started like a joke because in the early days one of us was late at rehearsals every time but as time started to go by we saw that everything that was big and special for the band came with one year delay literally for example <first big record or first big gig> so we kept the name As OYD
Tell me about your most memorable shows.
We just came back from Czech Republic. We were part of the Masters Of Rock festival winter edition!
It was a blast and the feedback was Great! Another big one Was supporting COMEBACK KID in Greece a few years back.
What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?
We don't have any specific place that we want to play,we try to play everywhere we can so our music can spread around the world!
If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?
Personally speaking Faith No More!!
What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into playing in a band and some advice that you would give to your younger self?
First advice for youngsters is write your own music,go out and play as many gigs as you can and never give up your dreams!
For my younger self maybe being more patience...hahaha
If you could go back in time and give yourselves advice, what would it be?
Don't take bullshit from anyone!
Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?
The last one single/video clip Bring Them To Justice because it deals with social issues like racism/homophobia and justice general that is a big problem right now everywhere around the world!
Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?
My Favorite for us playing is Landslide. It's a total banger! Fan request probably Nano Hopes!
What is the creative process for the band, and what inspires you to write your music?
We are all being part of this process of writing music and lyrics all together!
Mostly we write for social issues or things we deal personally!
What kinds of messages do you like to get across in your music?
Never give up for what you stand for, Fight for what you love!
Do you ever have disagreements in your band, and how do you get past them?
Hahahahahha now that's a question...of course everyone has you know being in a band with 4 or 5 people for a long time is like mariage!
With the good things and the bad together but we love so much playing music so get over every issue that may come up with one way or another!
What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?
We are in the creative process. We already have new fresh songs which probably will come out this year as video clips and try to play more gigs!
