Interview with Seamus O'Farrell
Hello Seamus! Thank you for speaking with me!
What have you been working on lately?
I’m an Advocate for Irish comedy and Theater in the US and was honored to give a speech to students at Lincoln University talking about Irish Culture and Humor and my Advocacy. I am teaching a workshop on the Irish Accent in the coming months which is exciting to help other Actors add that to their repertoire. The last few months I have spent working on and honing my new stand up material which im taking on a mini tour of the Northeast of the US. We could always do with a laugh and especially now more than ever! So Im Excited to bring Irish comedy and wit to new audiences!
Who are some of your biggest comedic influences?
Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David are definitely two big influences on me. I was a Huge Seinfeld fan growing up and I rewatched it during the Pandemic and it’s amazing how it still stands up today even though its 30 years later. I think that’s something that has influenced my humor even though it is subjective its also universal if that makes sense. My comedy tends to be semi- autobiographical and a little observational.
Who would be a dream collaboration for you?
A Dream Collaboration for me would be working with the Gang from Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Its my favorite sitcom that’s currently on tv and one of my all-time favorites. My family have a huge connection to Philadelphia and that’s another reason I love the show and I mean what’s an Irish Pub in Philly without an Irish Guy!
Do you have a piece of advice you carry with you that you like to pass on to other comedians?
I think the best advice for comedians is to find your own voice don’t try to be anything other than yourself. We are all funny in our own way and to take the humor and try and amplify it for stage is the key. The most important thing of all is to be comfortable on stage and find the ease. That’s like 3 pieces of advice but I guess Be Yourself! As the saying goes everybody else is taken!
Any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for?
I am Acting in a short film called ‘When the Doles an option” I am playing a Police officer. Looking forward to that and then I’m embarking on a Standup Comedy tour around the Northeast of the United States. Going to be Performing in New York, Philadelphia, Boston and Washington DC! Im so excited to be bringing my Irish humor comedy to new audiences. I am doing a few other short films in the fall so watch this space! Follow me on Social media for updates!!
