Interview with Taylor D
What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
- I first got into music when I was 12, I was watching Jack Black's school of rock and had the idea to start guitar lessons. I started guitar lessons shortly after and started to pick up the guitar pretty quickly.
If I wasn't doing music now I'd probably be studying to be a History teacher. I have a keen interest in History and was one of my strongest subjects.
What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
- When I'm not playing music I love attending concerts with my friends, I get a lot of inspiration from concerts whether that's ideas for my stage performance or giving creative influence in my songwriting like my song Fan Girl which was inspired by a Vamps Concert I attended last December.
How long have you been making music?
- I've technically been in the industry since I was 13. I wrote my first ever song at that age and after releasing my first single, a Christmas song I got my first ever airplay on radio.
Where are you based and how did that influence your music?
- I'm based in Dublin Ireland, there's a lot of music and opportunities for musicians in dublin between performances opportunities and music groups so having that around definitely helped keep the passion for music.
Tell me about your most memorable shows, if you haven’t played live what is your vision for a live show?
-My most memorable gig would have to be performing on the main stage as part of the Irish youth music awards in 2022 in the RDS. During this gig I used a loop pedal for the first time which I quiet enjoyed and will always stick out as a favourite show of mine
What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?
-My favourite venue to have played would have to be the RDS in Dublin it is such a nice venue to play and has a large audience space. I would one day hope to play the 3Olympia in Dublin someday.
If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?
-If I could play a gig with any Artits I would have to say Ed Sheeran, Niall Horan, Lewis Capaldi, Taylor Swift and The script.
What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into making music and some advice that you would give to your younger self?
-The advice I would give to my younger self and to other starting out us that anything is possible, when I was starting out I was always told I was too shy to be a performer but I worked hard and now I perform regularly at events and busking in Town.
Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?
-One of the most memorable songs for me would be strangers again, that song is a very personal song for me and I think many people can relate to the lyrics in their own way.
What is your creative process, and what inspires you to write your music?
-My creative process is I have an idea for a song and then I'm either on a piano or a guitar with a melody idea in my head with some vague wording. All of my songs are drawn off of real life personal experience.
Do you have any new singles, videos, or albums out that you would like to tell me and your fans about?
-This year will be the release of my Debut EP Fan Girl which will be released on the 15th of September with an EP launch gig that same night. Entry is Free but is a limited space. Tickets are on this link if you would like to attend
