Interview with WILDSTREET

www.volatileweekly.com

What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?

Watching MTV as a child got me into music.. I started playing guitar when I was 8.

Without music.. shall I say..

“Dead Jail or Rock ‘n’ Roll…”

What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?

I practice Ashtanga Yoga and workout.. and am 100% vegan.

How long has your band been around?

15 years

Where are you based out of and how did that influence your music?

Wildstreet is from NYC, one of the biggest and most diverse cities..so our music is absolutely a result of living here.. we do what we want…always!

Tell me about your most memorable shows.

We’ve done so many shows.. last year we played over 109 shows in the US and Europe .. this year we play Rockfest, go to Mexico and then Rocklahoma..

What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?

Our tour is called ‘Kings Of. World Tour’ I intend for us to play everywhere

If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?

Wildstreet, Dead Daisies, Mammoth WVH & (the headliner) Guns ‘n Roses

What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into playing in a band and some advice that you would give to your younger self?

The party isn’t the point, it’s about music.

If you could go back in time and give yourselves advice, what would it be?

I have no regrets…I am who I am & have done things. I just rock hard.

Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?

Probably ‘We Won’t Be Apart’ cuz it’s a very personal song. The lyrics are self explanatory.

Which songs are your favorite to play and which get requested the most?

Our fan favorites (based on a recent poll)

  1. Easy Does It

  2. Poison Kiss

  3. Tennessee Cocaine

  4. Still Love You

My favorite is Mother, and I love playing all of the songs on ‘III’ most.

What is the creative process for the band, and what inspires you to write your music?

There is no set creative process. We write what we like and do what we want. I rather like being an enigma.

What kinds of messages do you like to get across in your music?

Wildstreet began as a reaction to the self loathing and deprecating rock music of the mid 2000s. We bring a party in the largest possible way.

Do you ever have disagreements in your band, and how do you get past them?

In any relationship there are fights. We figure it out and it generally isn’t music related. Tour life can be hard, we do our best to take care of each other.

What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?

Wildstreet Kings Of World Tour July begins July 14 at Rockfest Cadott, WI. We are touring south after and heading to Mexico for four shows. To get tickets for our shows in the USA and Mexico use this link: https://linktr.ee/wildstreet

We will also play the Rocklahoma ifestival in September. Frankly I can’t wait! Thank you for the interview.
