Hi Kendra! Thank you for speaking with me today!
Thanks so much for inviting me to interview!
You just released a new EP! Will you tell us about that?
I am so thrilled and grateful about how well this release is doing. The name of the EP is "of Summer". It is a 4-track release recorded in Nashville, TN at Ten7Teen Studios. I co-wrote the songs with Justine Blazer, Mark Roma, Corey Lee Barker, and Randy Barnette. It is my first couple steps into the country music direction. I have been playing and recording folk rock for duration of my career, and I recently started working with a team of musicians in Nash, so it felt like the most natural next step. "of Summer" is out now, streaming on all music platforms; just search 'Kendra & the Bunnies'. The first music video from the project is out on July 18, save the date here: https://youtu.be/dqtTa95xo7Q
What was the inspiration behind it?
There is a strong blues and americana inspiration to these songs. I also worked hard to focus this release in the mainstream music pop realm.
I have such an artsy side to me, and yet, I also have a really big interest in making a legendary mark on the world.
I see myself accomplishing this through my unique perspective and spiritual approach to music.
You worked with some major names in the music industry for this! What was that experience like?
It is a powerful experience to work with such talented and notable musicians. It means that the quality of the songs we write and record are even more outstanding.
There is a sense of electricity to each song, as we all jive really well together. Some of these players were also featured on my knockout hit "Self Love Proclamation", which is up for two awards at the 2021 Josie Music Awards, including: best song of the year and best music video of the year.
You have been releasing so much music! How are you staying balanced and recharged in all of it?
The music is what keeps me balanced. Additionally, I have a very self-reflective and personal relationship with myself and close friends/family.
This allows for continual energy renewal, because I am able to be entirely honest with anyone I so choose.
I focus on one thing at a time, and many times that's a late-night milkshake to help balance everything out.
Any upcoming work we can be on the lookout for?
I have an upcoming show at The Viper Room on August 12.
It will be my first Kendra & the Bunnies FULL BAND show, and we would love your support there.
