Hi Mikara! Thank you for being here today!
You are gearing up to release quite a bit of new music! Will you tell us a bit about it?
Yes! I’m so excited. I’m itching to get these songs out there because I wanted people to hear these songs as soon as I wrote them! My upcoming EP is really inspired by my move to LA and lusting over an old flame that I knew was no good for me. Being in LA, I got to work with a great producer, Jeremiah Raisen who’s worked with the likes of Charli XCX and Sky Ferreira. It was super inspiring to record in a studio where some of my favorite artists have recorded.
What is your creative process usually like?
It depends! But for my EP all of the songs started as voice memos. I remember being at my day job on a slow day and that’s where I wrote “Wildfire” - just singing in the store and recording it on my phone. Later I took the song to piano to play around with different keys and flesh out the chords.
Who are some of your biggest music influences?
Amy Winehouse, Lana Del Rey and Banks are some big ones for me.
What would be a dream collaboration for you?
I’d love to collab with Porter Robinson, Travis Barker and FINNEAS.
What is your favorite part of being an artist?
The creative process for sure. It’s so therapeutic and writing songs has helped me through a lot of hard times. And one of the best things is when someone reaches out to you letting you know that your song helped them too. I want people to know they’re not alone.
Do you have a piece of advice or mantra that you carry with you that you like to share with fans or other musicians?
Follow your dreams! Life is too short to waste it on things you don’t love.
Please let everyone know where to find you and your music!
