Interview with DinoVert
What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
I got into music after going to a concert in highschool and seeing the amount of people an artist can touch with their music. If I hadn’t gotten into music I would probably in a bad state of mind, as music is like a diary for me.
What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
When I’m not working on music I exercise or play video games to help clear and recharge my mind.
How long has your band been around?
I’ve been around for around four years now but have been taking music seriously for about three years.
Where are you based out of and how did that influence your music?
I am based out of Houston, Tx so I grew up on hip hop music like Paul Wall, Travis Scott, etc. The hip-hop music created a foundation for what my music has evolved into.
How did you come up with your name and what does it mean to you?
My real name is Brandon and my childhood nickname was always Brandino. This ended up shortening down to Dino. The Vert came to mind as I always viewed myself as a bit of an Introvert, so I put the two together.
What is your favorite venue to play at, and do you have any places you want to play that you have not already?
I would love to play at the House Of Blues in Houston. I grew up going to smaller artists concerts there and watched them grow to superstars.
If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?
I would love to play a show with MGK, Travis Scott, and Iann Dior.
What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting started and some advice that you would give to your younger self?
Don’t listen to what anyone has to say about your music. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it because hate never comes from above.
If you could go back in time and give yourselves advice, what would it be?
Focus on yourself and the music and put the blinders on to all the hate you might get.
Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?
“All a Dream'' means the most because I wrote the lyrics and melody to the chorus laying in bed one night out of true emotion. I hadn’t found a beat for it yet, so the next day I loaded up some beats and the first one I clicked fit the chorus perfectly. This was cool to me, I still have the voice memo from that night in bed.
What is your creative process, and what inspires you to write your music?
I sit down with a drink and mainly freestyle all my songs. Whatever comes to mind, I put it into words and a melody.
What kinds of messages do you like to get across in your music?
I like to show listeners that they aren’t alone in their day to day struggles with things like mental health and relationships.
What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?
I have big plans with over 200 unreleased songs, maybe an album in the near future.
How can your fans best keep up to date with you, any socials you want people to check out?
They can keep up to date on my Instagram and TikTok @dinovertt
