What got you into music, and if you had not gotten into music what would you be doing today?
We started playing music together since we were kids. Growing up our parents would always play music around the house so that definitely had an impact on us growing up. Slowly with time we would develop our own music taste and play our first songs together. Growing up in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in a small village surely had it’s creative advantages now when we look back. One thing is that there were not many distractions going on around us. So we had the freedom to really focus on what we love and figure out what it is that we wanted to do in life.
What do you like to do when you are not playing music and how does that influence your creativity?
When we’re not working on music we like to spend time with family and friends. Even if we’re not writing or playing we listen to music daily. Discovering new artists and bands is surely something that inspires us. Inspiration can come from anywhere and it’s always welcomed.
How long has your band been around?
We formed in January 2020. We made our first appearance online with our song “Barricade” off of our debut album “Through Obstacles” in February 2022.
Where are you based out of and how did that influence your music?
Currently we’re based in Frankfurt, Germany. We don’t pay much attention to what’s happening around us or follow any trends. We’re trying to focus on our own thing always.
How did you come up with the name of your band and what does it mean to you?
We had the name years before we officially formed. The idea was to find a name that would allow us not expand and step into different genres and sounds. A name that we could twist in any way we’d like.
If you could play any show with any lineup, who would be on the ticket?
Dreams & Bloom, John Mayer, Paramore, Kings of Leon, Incubus, The National and Jimmy Eat World. There’s way too many to pick from :)
What is some advice that you would give to someone who is just getting into playing in a band and some advice that you would give to your younger self?
I guess one advice we would give to anyone out there trying to pursue their dreams is to not give up when things get tough. We all go through highs and lows but if there’s really something you want to do and that something makes you happier than anything else in life, go for it and good things will happen. Everybody defines their own happiness and success so find something that gives you that feeling and don’t let go.
If you could go back in time and give yourselves advice, what would it be?
There’s not many things we regret in life or things that we’d change. It’s all a process at the end of the day and things happen for a reason, we believe.
Of your songs which one means the most to you and why?
It’s really difficult to pinpoint one song. It changes on a daily basis. I guess if we’d had to pick our favorite Dreams & Bloom song today, it would be “Little Brother”. That song holds a special place and touches on a subject that we never really discussed before, until we wrote it.
What is the creative process for the band, and what inspires you to write your music?
It always starts with a lyric, concept, or chord progression. We try to always write music together in the same room but sometimes we do write remotely and send ideas back and forth. One thing that we don’t do is force and idea into a song. It’s pretty easy for us to tell if an idea is worth elaborating on. It always has to serve the song and the story. No matter what. But we’ll try any idea, that’s for sure.
What kinds of messages do you like to get across in your music?
Even though “Through Obstacles” talks about difficult times as the name suggests, there’s a positive message behind the songs and lyrics if you listen deep enough. We hope our music gives people the strength and hope to overcome any obstacles they may be faced with and come out stronger on the other side.
Do you ever have disagreements in your band, and how do you get past them?
Like any siblings, we have disagreements. But for the most part we got the majority out of our system back when we were kids. I guess at the end of the day we get past all that stuff by just listening and having respect for each other. Being brothers is always gonna be the thing that brings us together, no matter what is happening around us.
Tell us about the current video release, Little Brother
This is by far the most personal video we released. The song touches on some deeply personal subjects. Writing it was a huge moment for us and something we’ll always be proud of. We hope that people enjoy it!
What are your plans for the future, and do you have anything that you want to spotlight that is coming up?
Our plans include playing live shows, keep writing new music and sharing it with the world. There’s a release schedule always in place for the upcoming weeks/months. Lots of exciting things coming up so stay tuned!
